“PUSH Physical Theatre communicates
spiritual truths using movement theatre.
The message is clear, concrete and understandable.
The ministry is sensitive and challenging.
Bring the scripture alive through
a very special event with PUSH.”

A pastor’s son from England, Darren Stevenson, has developed a unique approach to ministry and the performing arts. He and his wife, Heather, have over 20 years experience in ministry leadership including church plants, long term local outreach programs, international missions, and leadership development in the area of communication and culture. In addition to running PUSH, a first class cultural arts organization, Heather specializes in working with children and children’s workers, and Darren is also known for his insight into church and culture and his ability to communicate with wit and humor.

“You are supreme at your art, but I think that comes from the context of your faith and desire to bring God’s grace to people… As you reach out, I also want to commend you for the way you act as servants to the places you visit.”
— Jo-Ellen Ming
Director of Fine Arts
Ridge Point Community Church, Michigan

Contact us to find out more about these ideas:

Culturally Relevant Creative Ministry:
Impact your congregation by tackling the hard truths using a medium that Rev. Ken describes as "...rich with originality and artistic quality..." The ministry is sensitive to the atmosphere of a Sunday service, while challenging new and mature Christians to experience a deeper relationship with their Savior.

Outreach That ‘Draws In’:
Host a special outreach event that everyone can invite someone to. The ministry of PUSH is culturally relevant and responsive to the needs of first time visitors. Host a ‘Dessert Theater’ with PUSH and plant the seed for growth.

Special Youth Events:
Born out of uniquely engaging approach to post-modern culture PUSH is the right thing for today. Teens who connect with action movies (Link to action movies video) or live shows like Blue Man Group, Stomp, or Cirque Du Soleil will love PUSH.

I wanted you guys to know that Darren's talk on the arts a few weeks ago gave us great insight into current media, and how we can and should make our own choices with what we're offered.

Training With Teachers Who Care:
Study the movement arts with professionals who understand your needs. Strategic training for short-term missions projects and leadership consultations provide tools specific to your communication style. The one thing that theater can’t do without is the human body. We are experts in helping performers and ministers to use movement to intensify their message. We won’t force your students into our mold of ministry. Instead, we’ll help them develop creative tools to express the nature of God with their own voice.

Try a One-Day Master Class, Weekend Workshop, or Five Day conference. Consider having your student bring work-in-progress to receive help and guidance in the creative process.

Sermon/Lectures:
(can also be part of a workshop)
These session examples focus on culture, art, and the church’s past and present role in humanity. Practical insights on living inspired lives in today’s culture.

‘Us’ Art and the Church, a Turbulent History:
A whirlwind tour of the history of the history of the arts from the Bible to today, applying the lessons from the past to our artistic expression right now. Grapple with postmodern culture and the Church’s role in the arts. Take a glimpse into the future to what's coming next... This class can be delivered alone or combined as a series with the following two sessions.

‘Them’ The Egyptians, and The Merchants of Cool:
Did you know that if you’re 18–24 over 90% of everything you buy is owned by a handful of massive global companies whose best interest is served by you being unhappy and unfulfilled? What is ‘cool’ and how it’s affecting the way we live. How postmodern culture connects with us. How we connect with the world, the mistakes we’ve made, and how to do better in this generation.

‘Go’ Bohemians and Hebrews:
What do today’s ‘storytellers’ have to learn from the ancient Hebrews? This session challenges to allow God’s story to shine through the art of our lives.

‘Daniel’ A Man of Valiant Compromise:
Discover how Daniel used relational techniques to reach the unfriendly culture he found himself in. Find the truth about compromise and spiritual integrity.

‘Reaching and Guiding Kids Hearts’:
Learn to “get down and look up” from the perspective of a child. Understand your responsibility to help ‘little leaders’ navigate the new world as they grow. See more information here (link to lectures page).
